The former Top Gear and Grand Tour presenter put out a tribute on social media following the death of former England footballer and manager Kevin Keegan.
The family of the ex Newcastle and Manchester City boss announced his death yesterday (Monday, July 20) following which there have been a number of messages from around the football world.

Former England and Newcastle captain Alan Shearer wrote: “My Hero. My manager. My friend. Sleep easy Boss.”
The family of Terry McDermott, who played alongside Mr Keegan at Liverpool and later worked as his assistant manager, released a statement saying they were “heartbroken”.

“Kevin was so much more than a team-mate,” the statement said. “He was a lifelong friend whose warmth, loyalty, humour and passion for football touched so many lives”.
It added: “The memories they shared, both on and off the pitch, will be treasured forever.”
Now, Mr Clarkson has taken to social media to publish a message about the loss, acknowledging his shared birthplace with Mr Keegan and One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.

He said: “Oh no. Diana Rigg and now Kevin Keegan gone. The only two well known Doncastrians left are Louis Tomlinson and me. Mexborough doesn’t count Blessed.”
The final reference is to 89-year-old actor Brian Blessed, who was born in Mexborough, which is in the City of Doncaster.
However, according to Mr Clarkson that doesn’t count, and only he and Mr Tomlinson remain as “well known Doncastrians”.
