Prime Video is removing Mr Morgan’s Last Love, a 2013 drama that stars Michael Caine and Gillian Anderson, very soon. At the time of writing (Wednesday 22 July), the film is available to watch with an Amazon subscription for only another 10 days.
Directed by German filmmaker Sandra Nettelbeck and featuring a score by Hans Zimmer, the little-known film follows a retired, widowed professor who lives in Paris (and can’t speak any French)
He strikes up a friendship with a French dance instructor who’s half his age, but his grown-up children protest.

As well as Caine and Anderson, the film also stars In Bruges and 127 Hours’s Clémence Poésy, Weeds’s Justin Kirk, and All the President’s Men’s Jane Alexander.
Despite the movie’s solid cast, critics show much love to Mr Morgan’s Last Love – though audiences reacted more warmly to it.
On IMDb, the film — simply called Last Love in some territories — has a decent average score of 6.7/10 from users. In a 7/10 review, one viewer wrote: “This is such a poignant and well meant movie it’s hard to not like it and its intentions… I loved it at times, but only very much liked it by the end.”

If the idea of that film floats your boat but you miss your chance to watch it via Prime Video, don’t worry – there are other options.
Mr Morgan’s Last Love is available to stream for free with ads on both Rakuten TV and Pluto TV. You can also purchase it from Prime Video for £3.99, which is only slightly higher than the rental price of £3.49 that some digital storefronts charge.
Meanwhile, Gillian Anderson will soon be seen on the big screen in Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, from the director of I Saw the TV Glow and co-starring Hacks’s Hannah Einbinder, which has received huge critical acclaim already.
