Margaret Qualley has been spotted in costume filming intense scenes for the remake of an 80s cult classic. The Substance star is set to appear in a new adaptation of Possession, helmed by Smile’s Parker Finn.
Starring Isabelle Adjani and the late Sam Neill, the original 1981 horror film follows married couple Mark (Neill) and Anna (Adjani) as their divorce devolves into a destructive, otherworldly nightmare, with Anna harbouring a terrifying secret.
Qualley is set to take on the lead role of Anna, recently pictured in costume filming scenes running and screaming on a street corner.

Callum Turner, Diego Calva and Paul Dano are also due to appear in the film, which was announced back in 2024, following the release of Finn’s smash-hit sequel Smile 2.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director and writer described the original Possession, helmed by Andrzej Żuławski, as one of his “absolute favourite films of all time”.
“We’re planning a viciously sharp, crazy, insane film,” he continued. “It’s going to have all the teeth and ferocity that the original had, but I want to do something that pays homage and honours the original but is also a spiritual successor that’s in dialogue with the original, that has some new explorations in it.”
Finn added: “I feel like I’m making this film obviously for a big audience, but I want to make this film also for the fans of the original. I hope people give it a chance!”
Possession is just one of several upcoming projects for Qualley, who will next appear on our screens in The Dog Stars, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi also starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and Guy Pearce.
