Black Panther 3 was officially confirmed as in the works at Marvel way back in December 2024, but we’ve been waiting patiently for any information on it. That wait is now over, and it was worth it.
During Marvel’s Comic-Con panel, Ryan Coogler confirmed the official title of Black Panther III and revealed that it will be released in cinemas on 15 December 2028. What’s more, David Jonsson has joined the cast as T’Challa’s now grown-up son, who will be the new Black Panther.
Winston Duke and Letitia Wright also joined Coogler and Jonsson on stage, so they’ll be back as M’Baku and Shuri, respectively.

We had seen T’Challa’s son Toussaint before in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever credit scene, where he was played by newcomer Divine Love Konadu-Sun.
It suggests a significant time jump for the third movie, but we still don’t know how Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will mess with the MCU timeline.
What we didn’t get was any confirmation that Denzel Washington will be in the movie, despite rumours that he was spotted in the San Diego area before the Comic-Con panel.
After Washington revealed that writer/director Ryan Coogler was “writing a part for me”, Coogler confirmed the news in June 2025 when talking to 7PM in Brooklyn With Carmelo Anthony.

“I’ve been trying to work with him since day one. I think he’s the greatest living actor. And in terms of what he means to our culture, forget about it,” he praised. “I’ve been talking to him about this for a long time, and I was surprised when he mentioned it. But it’s not like it’s not true.”
Coogler also confirmed in November 2025 (via Deadline) that Black Panther 3 would be his “next movie”.
Before then, we’ll be seeing a lot of the Black Panther cast in Avengers: Doomsday and, if they survive it, Avengers: Secret Wars. Among those confirmed to appear are Letitia Wright’s Shuri (now the new Black Panther) and Winston Duke’s M’Baku.
Black Panther III will be released in cinemas on 15 December 2028.
