“I feel like Pretend Cooking Show’ is as real as I really want to get it — which is that I cook about once a month for people online, and the reason that I think it resonates with people is that it is really truly what’s happening in the moment and it’s truly what I am planning on cooking that day — almost always — and it is usually a favorite of mine. Sometimes I’m trying something new. Anyway, if I had an ongoing cooking show I think that it would start to feel manufactured, which I don’t want. And Hollis is a much more pristine cook than I am. Her things always turn out just right. The edges are always crisp. She never burns anything. So we’re different in that way. But yes, I loved getting to cook on camera. It was a first for me, and for real, like in a show or a movie, and I really enjoyed that part of it.”
