It’s been a busy year for Callum Turner, with the actor being heavily linked with the role of James Bond while also appearing in the likes of Rosebush Pruning and Rose of Nevada. He’s also starring in the upcoming Possession, the highly-anticipated remake of a classic psychological horror from the 1980s. And we’ve got a first look.
The remake is being written and directed by Parker Finn, who is best known for his work on the Smile franchise. It sees Turner and Margaret Qualley in the lead roles, with the story following a couple who go through a bitter and otherworldly divorce.

After Qualley was pictured on set last week, Turner has now been spotted with his co-star for the first time.
In the new filming images, it appears that he has some blood on his face and jumper, while Qualley is wearing a purple dress.
The original film, which was written and directed by Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski, was released in 1981 and saw the late Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani in the lead roles. Despite garnering some controversy for its violence, the film is now regarded as a cult classic.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the psychological horror has an impressive approval rating of 87% from 46 reviews, with Film-Authority calling it a “strikingly acted and original horror film that never loses its edge”.
“Possession is a singular cinematic experience and probably the greatest breakup movie ever made,” said WBUR’s Arts & Culture, while Horror Queers Podcast called it a “masterpiece” and “sheer perfection”.

Finn previously spoke about the upcoming remake, which is being produced by Robert Pattinson, with Entertainment Weekly in 2024. He said that he wanted to honour the original while also adding some new twists.
“We’re planning a viciously sharp, crazy, insane film,” he said. “It’s going to have all the teeth and ferocity that the original had,… [but it’s] also a spiritual successor that’s in dialogue with the original, that has some new explorations in it.”
Possession doesn’t have a release date yet.
