JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – The Jackson Rockabillys hosted a Space Jam-themed exhibition game Tuesday night, drawing a packed stadium to mark the 30th anniversary of the 1996 film.
Fans were encouraged to bring “Michael’s Secret Stuff” to the event, a nod to the movie’s storyline involving Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes.
Heat forces pre-game cancellations
High temperatures forced organizers to scale back the evening’s planned activities before first pitch.
“Today, when they were predicting a 115 heat index, we decided it’s not worth somebody getting sick, a player getting hurt, so we canceled the pre-game events, but fans still got the commemorative 30th anniversary Space Jam T-shirt,” said Dennis Bastien, owner and operator of the Jackson Rockabillys.
Despite the cancellations, attendees still received the commemorative 30th anniversary Space Jam T-shirt.
Space Jam was originally released in theaters on Nov. 15, 1996.
