One of the greatest challenges of dressing for summer is trying to stay cool while also attempting to look elevated. There are ways, of course, to style the season’s staples—like shorts and sandals—in a chic manner, and it should come as no surprise that Duchess Meghan has got her own formula down pat.
Yesterday afternoon, the Duchess of Sussex attended a special screening at Camp Arnaz in Ojai, California, for the forthcoming Girl Scout documentary Cookie Queens (for which she and Prince Harry served as executive producers through their production company, Archewell). At the screening, Meghan engaged with groups of young scouts, while wearing a breezy summer look that perfectly fit the occasion.

To begin, she wore a top from Brochu Walker that was like a fusion between a sweater and a T-shirt.
The short-sleeve Gaia top featured a deep V-neck and ribbed hems. It had the silhouette of a tee, but was crafted from an Italian marled yarn, making it a low-key yet elevated staple.
For a true summer touch, Meghan paired the top with some bright-white shorts, which came in a wide shape with subtle pleating. They appeared to be the Jenni Kayne Newport shorts in white, but sadly, that colorway is currently sold out.
The duchess accessorized the easy look with embroidered velvet slippers in black, plus a stack of gold bangles and her Logan Hollowell necklace with diamond and emerald gemstones (the latter being a nod to her son Archie’s birthstone).
The day prior, Meghan attended a screening in Los Angeles, where she wore a cream-colored set consisting of an Akris blazer paired with Tracy James jeans and some brown leather Hermès sandals.
Cookie Queens will arrive in theaters on August 7. And while we’ll have to wait to see how good the film is, one thing is for sure: Meghan’s press tour fashion has not disappointed.
