During the royal outing, the family took in some of the competitions and met with the athletes
While chatting with some of the gymnasts from Team Wales, Louis shared that he’d been working on his handstand but admitted, “Charlotte says I’m not very good”
Prince Louis may have a royal title, but he’s still a little brother.
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s 8-year-old son marked a royal milestone over the weekend as he joined his parents and his older siblings — Prince George, 13, and Princess Charlotte, 11 — at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The outing was Louis first public sporting event with his family, as well as the children’s first public appearance in Scotland.
During their time at the Games — which are held every four years and bring together athletes from across the Commonwealth of Nations to compete — the family took in some of the sporting contests, including track cycling and netball, and met with athletes and volunteers.
Louis was even seen sharing a high five with Finnie, the unicorn mascot, who represents the mythical national animal of Scotland.

The family also spent time with Team Wales at the Wales House, where they met gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper, sisters who both won bronze medals at the competition earlier in the week.
The Telegraph reported that, during their chat, Prince William, 44, remarked that Charlotte “loves gymnastics and ballet,” while Princess Kate pointed out that her youngest was also working on his own acrobatic skills.
“Louis, you’re perfecting your handstand at the moment,” she shared.
“A bit,” he agreed. “But Charlotte says I’m not very good.”
Charlotte, who received a signed Team Wales leotard from the gymnasts, confirmed that she could do a handstand, while their older brother, Prince George, admitted, “I’m rubbish at anything that involves flexibility.”
The Commonwealth Games outing was a major step for Prince Louis, who was not included in the family’s visit to Wimbledon earlier this summer, despite the fact that both of his older siblings first attended the tennis tournament when they were his age.
The youngest prince is known for his scene-stealing behavior at royal events, such as pulling faces and covering his ears during Trooping the Colour festivities and making faces at his mother during the Platinum Jubilee parade.
“He’s a character, but he’s a very good boy,” Prince William once described his youngest, per the Daily Mail. “He likes to wind his brother and sister up.”
While recent appearances have seemed to display a more mature Louis, he did have a cheeky moment in the stands at the Commonwealth Games, flashing a big smile as he was gifted a Team Wales cycling hat.

In true sisterly fashion, Charlotte has frequently been photographed appearing to help keep her brothers in line during important royal events. She was famously captured on camera during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral procession, telling Prince George, “You need to bow,” at the appropriate time.

Then, the following spring, she and Louis were paired up for the formal ceremonies surrounding the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla, as George was serving as a page.
Princess Charlotte appeared as poised as ever at this year’s Trooping the Colour festivities in June, where palace insiders noted that she, George and Louis all took to their annual balcony appearance like seasoned professionals.

The only unscripted moment was when Prince George had to stifle a sneeze until the final notes of “God Save the King,” leading to shared giggles with his mother, Princess Kate.
“You can see the close bond between the three siblings,” former palace courtier Ailsa Anderson told PEOPLE following the event. “It felt like a family affair… They are starting the summer on a high.”
