ANAHEIM, Calif. — Anna and Elsa’s next chapter is slowly defrosting.
Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell shared a first look at “Frozen 3,” which takes audiences back to the chilly kingdom of Arendelle in 2027. The pair sang a new song onstage at Disney’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on Friday, Aug. 14.
“Doesn’t it feel like the world of ‘Frozen’ is a little bit different,” Bell said
Bell confirmed that Anna is finally “getting hitched to her mountain man Kristoff” in a royal wedding that Menzel said has been a long time coming.
Josh Gad revealed that romance is in the air for Olaf, too. The iconic goofy snowman will fall in love with a snowwoman named Samantha. Gad performed a new song about his character’s latest infatuation.
Menzel and Bell will reprise their roles as royal sisters Elsa and Anna in the highly anticipated threequel, while Jonathan Groff will return as Kristoff.
“We will find ourselves far from Arendelle in a frozen land more wild and dangerous than anything else that has ever been created,” Menzel added.
The cast gave a sneak peek at the upcoming threequel at D23 and revealed that a mysterious, villainous threat is looming. Neither actor would reveal who the mystery screen villain is.
Former Disney CEO Bob Iger first let it go that “Frozen 3” was coming in February 2023 along with sequels “Toy Story 5” and “Zootopia 2.”
The original “Frozen” stormed the worldwide box office in 2013, making more than $1.3 billion and becoming the highest-grossing animated film at the time. 2019’s “Frozen II” exceeded that milestone with a chilling $1.4 billion in box office.
“Frozen 3” is slated to hit theaters nationwide on November 2027.
