Daredevil: Born Again
damesansmerci: There’s been a lot of talk about the future of Marvel TV shows. Do you think they’ll look to produce cheaper street-level content or one-off specials, either to showcase more niche characters or as proof of concept for longer-form shows?
Alex Perez: A combination of both, for sure. But sadly, they won’t be using the streamer format to do “exploration” of other, less-known characters. Just safer characters that are sure to draw in attention from fans to tune in to Disney+.
RedGyarados2010: Hi Alex! What is next for Buck Cashman?
Alex Perez: If they ever solve the issues with Moon Knight, we’ll get to see him soon. For now, he’s probably off being the mercenary he is somewhere else.
DarthHalen: Will Danny Rand finally be seen in a proper Iron Fist costume in season 3?
Alex Perez: Would you imagine it? A comic accurate mask? A green tracksuit? The chest tattoo? Would be awesome, wouldn’t it?
damesansmerci: Hi Alex! What can we expect from Elektra’s return in the next season of Daredevil: Born Again?
Alex Perez: After the ending of the Defenders, you have to really wonder what she’s been up to. The same goes for Luke and for Danny. And with the recent appearance of the Hand in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, one’s got to wonder if she’s associated with them this time around. But as to what you can expect from her. There is lots of tension between her and Matt, especially when they reunite. But there’s one scene between her and Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye that will really have viewers on the edge of their seats. And anyone who’s read the comics knows what I’m alluding to.
Hulk and She-Hulk
Titan: Is a solo Hulk or team-up Hulk-focused film still in the cards post-Secret Wars, or has that possibility been cannibalized by other priorities and the poor reception/retooling of Brave New World?
Alex Perez: Everything is always possible. It’s just a complicated situation. But if anyone can get it done, it’s Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige.
Daredevil in ‘She-Hulk’ (Marvel Studios/Disney)
toastef: Hello again! What’s next for She-Hulk? There seems to be a lot of uncertainty about the future of her character. I loved the show personally and think she’d be a great addition to Sam’s Avengers.
Alex Perez: I don’t think Ms. Walters is done just yet.
Marvel Animation
CamCam: Do you know if Marvel Animation has any active plans or interest in making a theatrically released animated film, ideally set in the Sacred Timeline? Because if they don’t, they should get some soon. Iron Fist would be a great character to receive an animated film. Listen to my genius, Brad Winderbaum.
Alex Perez: They’re exploring lots of cool avenues for Marvel Animation. A film is definitely something they have discussed, but what it could be about is something we still don’t know.
Moon Knight
theo1507: Hello Alex. Has there been any further discussion regarding projects focused on the supernatural or magical side of the MCU? Any Moon Knight talk?
Alex Perez: Oh yes. A sequel for Werewolf by Night, for starters, is in the works. I think they’ll still want to incorporate Moon Knight back down the line, but it may take a while.
Nova
Kaweebo: I doubt there’s much you know about Nova plotwise yet, but how likely is it do you think that we’ll see a flashback to Thanos destroying the Nova Corps in that film?
Alex Perez: You’d be surprised by the details I’ve heard about Nova. There’s been a lot of cool ideas thrown around. One of the ideas they discussed involved a group of Nova Corps members who were off-world when Thanos destroyed Xandar. So it’s very likely they could incorporate that. However, it’s important to note that if the universe is reset, who’s to say Xandar was destroyed by Thanos in this new iteration of the universe? What if someone else destroyed Xandar?
Manglor: Morning Alex. Do you know if Nova will still have elements of Star Trek/police procedural with an ensemble cast of Nova Corps members?
Alex Perez: It’s possible, but we’ll see how it evolves.
(Marvel Comics)
joshua: Will Annihilus be involved in the Nova movie? I believe you mentioned previously that he was planned for the Nova TV show along with the Horde.
Alex Perez: To my understanding, the film is still going to feature Annihilus. And it’s important to note that one of the reasons why this project is taking so long to get off the ground is because Marvel wants the story to connect a larger plot they have in mind down the line, which doesn’t completely discard the idea of an Avengers-level movie dealing with the Annihilation Wave.
DarthHalen: Hello! Since Marvel is working on expanding the cosmic side of things with Nova, have you heard any whispers of the following characters being involved in any capacity? Darkhawk, Quasar, or Gladiator specifically.
Alex Perez: Gladiator and Quasar yes. Darkhawk, no.
Spider-Man
laser_gum: Hello Alex. Thank you for doing these. What villains do you want to see fight Spider-Man post-Secret Wars from his rogue gallery?
Alex Perez: Eliminating Kingpin from that list? I really want him to go against Mister Negative, Spencer Symthe, and the Jackal.
joshua: Is there still a chance that any of the No Way Home villains will get a version in the MCU post-Secret Wars?
Alex Perez: Oh yeah.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (Sony/Marvel)
Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlet Witch
Astropologetic: Wanda Maximoff… what’s the latest?
Alex Perez: Wanda Maximoff will return in Avengers…
aspksss: Could Agatha’s relationship with Billy eventually lead to her developing a friendship or even a mentorship with Wanda?
Alex Perez: That’s a possibility.
X-Men
TheFrozenOne: The main thing confusing me about these leaks is the claim that the X-Men are from Earth-10005. If that’s really the main Fox universe, where is their Wolverine? Since the Logan 2017 film hasn’t happened yet on the timeline, he should still be alive, but none of the leaks seem to mention him; they only mention the worst Wolverine variant from Deadpool & Wolverine. This seems like a huge plot hole.
With the above in mind, are the X-Men in fact variants from the branch timeline of the original films? Given that X1/X2 were included on Marvel’s official watchlist for Doomsday, yet those films were erased by Days of Future Past.
Alex Perez: It really won’t matter.
Miscellaneous Marvel Studios and other questions
daofeiboy: With you teasing so much of the Eternals as of late, are we to expect them to do a sequel like they initially intended to do, or are we to expect just supporting/sidelined appearances?
Alex Perez: Expect some updates post-Secret Wars.
qncycharles: Will Marvel Studios eventually recast Ironman?
Alex Perez: Too early for me to tell.
Manglor: When do you think we’re most likely to see Rhodey again?
Alex Perez: He should be in the Avengers movies. Whether he pops up, I don’t know yet.
FanOfNuance: We know Kevin Fiege and team love to redeem older, destained projects by giving their plot and characters renewed context in future stories. Any in particular that you think could get this treatment in the future?
Alex Perez: Eternals.
