Newly-minted MCU star and “Stranger Things” alum Sadie Sink is in talks to star in and produce “The Guest,” a feature adaptation of Emma Cline’s bestselling 2024 novel.

A24 and Square Peg are in negotiations to adapt Cline’s novel — which follows as “a calculating grifter navigates the treacherous world of Summer in the Hamptons” — with writer-director Lorene Scafaria (“Hustlers,” “Succession”) in talks to helm the project.

Published in 2024 by Penguin Random House, “The Guest” was longlisted for the Pen/Faulkner award, as well as named a Belletrist Book Club pick and best book of the year by more than a dozen publications, including The New Yorker, Time, NPR and The Washington Post.

News of the project comes as Sink graduated from the supernatural world of Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the ultrapowerful mutant Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which became the highest-grossing film in domestic box office history after swinging into theaters in July. Sink also delivered standout performances in the Oscar-winning film “The Whale,” the recent West End production of “Romeo and Juliet” and a Tony-nominated turn in Broadway’s “John Proctor is the Villain.” She will next star in Marvel’s “X-Men” reboot, directed by Jake Schreier and set to release on May 5, 2028.

In addition to 2019’s “Hustlers,” Scafaria wrote and directed “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” and “The Meddler,” and wrote the adapted screenplay for “Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist.” Scafaria’s TV work includes directing episodes of “New Girl” and “Succession,” the latter for which she was nominated for a DGA Award and a Primetime Emmy. Currently, Scafaria serves as executive producer and a director on HBO’s “I Love LA.”

Sink is represented by WME, Peikoff Mahan and imPRint; and Scafaria is repped by UTA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Deadline first reported news of the developing project.
