Sharleen Spiteri from the band Texas says the group had to buy one of their records online for £1,400 as they never publicly sold vinyl of the album.

The band is going on tour in 2027, which includes a performance at the Brighton Centre, to celebrate 30 years since their White on Blonde album was released.

Although the band sold almost two million copies of the album in the UK alone, Spiteri said only about 50-100 vinyl records were produced for members of the press and radio stations.

“We had to go on to eBay and we had to buy our own record which, this is where it gets nuts, it cost us £1,400,” she said.

Spiteri added: “If you have a White on Blonde album right now, one of the originals, sell it! It’s worth a lot of money.”

As part of the 30-year celebrations, the band is releasing a remastered version of the popular album.

Singles from the record, which was the fourth album from the Scottish band, included Say What You Want and Black Eyed Boy.

Spiteri told BBC Radio Sussex: “People are genuinely like: ‘Oh my God, that album meant so much to me!’ and stuff, and even [from] younger people who remember it from the parents or on the school run or whatever.

    “It’s pretty special.”
