Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s friends fear the scandal surrounding her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., could end up destroying whatever chance they have left of making peace with the royal family, a source tells Examiner.
“They’ve been getting sympathy and support from people all over the world, but when it comes to the royal family, there’s been nothing,” reveals the source. “Their friends think it’s pretty cold, especially given how horrific these allegations are.”
The Duchess of Sussex, 45, shared a statement to People after The U.S. Sun reported on October 22 that her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., discovered “hundreds, if not thousands” of alleged explicit photographs of children while going through storage boxes at their father’s home in Cebu, Philippines.

Meghan alleged that in 2018, London’s Metropolitan Police shared with her a letter that “made troubling and disturbing allegations” against Thomas Sr., 82, and that she had been “given assurances that these were being investigated.”
When asked whether King Charles III knew of the letter, Buckingham Palace declined to comment, adding it was a matter for the Sussexes, per People.
Meghan’s father denied the allegations to In Touch, claiming he “did not have access” to the computers in question and that the hard drives had been kept in a storage unit managed by his son’s friends and “were handled by several other people.”
Thomas Sr. also implied that the allegations stemmed from Thomas Jr.’s alleged “alcoholism and desperation for money,” telling the outlet: “I hope he gets counseling.”

Since then, Daily Mail discovered child abuse images and books about pedophilia — as well as instructions on how to wipe hard drives — in an abandoned storage unit Meghan’s father once rented near Rosarito, Mexico.
“No one’s expecting Charles or Prince William to get involved in the investigation, but would it really hurt to show a little compassion?” says Examiner’s source. “By all accounts, they haven’t even reached out privately, which has got to be incredibly disappointing.”
