“Staring at the surface at the sea. Another category of near infinite permutations of colour and texture that reminds me of paint. The silky sea made me think of large tubs of colour, of acrylic swirling off the brush into water, of colours running into each other on a wet palette. And painting gives me same aesthetic and also purely physical joy as diving head first into the ocean. Sensual, visceral even…” โ Nina Rodin @ninarodinartist ๐

โNinety percent of global warming is occurring in the ocean, with the last decade and the year 2020 being the hottest.
Covering more than 70% of Earthโs surface, our global ocean has a very high heat capacity. It has absorbed 90% of the warming that has occurred in recent decades due to increasing greenhouse gases, and the top few meters of the ocean store as much heat as Earth’s entire atmosphere.
The effects of ocean warming include sea level rise due to thermal expansion, coral bleaching, accelerated melting of Earthโs major ice sheets, intensified hurricanes*, and changes in ocean health and biochemistry.โ โ NASA
