Smoke from deadly fires overtakes neighborhoods around Los Angeles

Videos from Santa Monica and Sawtelle show scale of smoke from deadly fires spread across Los Angeles.

Celebrities are taking to social media to share how the wildfires scorching Southern California have affected them.

“The Hills” alums Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt lost their home to the fire, Montag said in a TikTok on Wednesday. She thanked everyone for their prayers and thoughts.

Pratt had posted videos on his TikTok Tuesday of the plumes of smoke near his residence and flames scorching the hills.

“Say a prayer for the Palisades here,” Pratt said in a TikTok on Tuesday.

Paris Hilton loses beachfront Malibu home

Paris Hilton took to social media several times in the past several days to express her distress after her family’s Malibu home was destroyed by the Palisades Fire.

“Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience,” Hilton wrote on X and Instagram. “My heart and prayers are going out to every family affected by these fires. To all the people who have lost their homes, their memories, and their beloved pets.”

Mandy Moore says home is ‘unlivable’, faces backlash for GoFundMe

“This Is Us” star Mandy Moore, 40, addressed backlash after she shared a link to a fundraiser for her in-laws Griff and Kit Goldsmith, who lost their home in one of the fires devastating the Los Angeles area.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Moore told followers that her brother-in-law and sister-in-law “lost their home and everything they own” in the Eaton fire. “Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild,” the actress wrote, pointing to a GoFundMe page.

But some fans criticized Moore for seeking donations and asked why she was not giving the entire $60,000 goal herself.

Moore responded to the criticism by writing on Instagram, “People questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic. Of course we are.”

She added, “Our buddy Matt started this go fund me and i’m sharing because people have asked how they can help them. We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything.”

That fire also caused the partial destruction of actor Gerard Butler’s home, he shared in a social media post in 2018.

Actor Steve Guttenberg, star of “Police Academy” and “Three Men and a Baby,” was helping to move cars on Tuesday so that people could evacuate due to the Palisades Fire, KTLA reported.
