Kate Middleton was beautiful in bottle green as she celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a visit to Wellington Barracks.

The Princess of Wales, who is Colonel of the Irish Guards, was beaming as she attended the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in London. It was likely to be an emotional visit for the mother-of-three, who typically visits the Barracks annually but missed last year’s event amidst her cancer battle.

In keeping with tradition, Kate Middleton opted for a green outfit for the occasion, pairing a bottle green Alexander McQueen coat dress with black heeled boots and a beret. She finished the look with a gold shamrock brooch. Owned by the Irish Guards, the delicate gold brooch with a central emerald is loaned to members of the Royal Family during St Patrick’s Day festivities. Some sources claim that the brooch once belonged to Queen Alexandra, who presented shamrocks during a visit to the Irish Guards soon after the turn of the century. It was first photographed, however, when worn by the Queen Mother (who served as Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment), and has also been worn by Princess Anne to present the shamrocks.
