Prince William sparked a fan frenzy during day one of his tour in Estonia after he was caught in a sweet interaction with a pooch during his walkabout. The Prince of Wales arrived in the Baltic state on Thursday and carried out a series of engagements, including a meeting with the country’s president, Alar Karis, visiting a school with Ukrainian refugees and attending an event about startups.
William attended a workshop with a range of renewable energy startups and heard how Estonia and other Baltic states are ushering in a new era of energy security. After the event, he greeted hundreds of well-wishers who had gathered outside to see him. The future King, who donned a green puffer jacket by Lulelemon, spent around 40 minutes shaking hands and taking selfies in the chilly conditions.
But there was one particular moment which caught fans’ attention when the prince stopped to pet a West Highland White Terrier, or Westie.
Royal fans went wild over the heartfelt encounter and took to social media to express their jubilation.
One user wrote on X: “Awww I love how he stopped to play with the doggie!!!”
Another one said: “Dogs seem to love William.”
A third one commented: “What a wonderful ‘Prince of the people’ & will be a ‘King of the people’ as well.”
A fourth one said: “Great to see Prince William lovely interaction with this gorgeous and very lucky westie on National Westie Day!”
A fifth one added: “We can always count on William to find a puppy!”
A sixth one opined: “Princess Catherine finds all the babies & Prince William finds all the puppies.”
