Despite her glamorous public appearances, Princess Kate’s early-morning habits are refreshingly down-to-earth, according to a former royal household insider.
Mum-of-three Kate, known for her radiant complexion and polished exterior, swears by a set of straightforward rules each morning – no phones, minimalist skincare, and a sacred moment of silence.
Anne Simmons, who worked as a royal cleaner for over 12 years, recently revealed Kate’s surprisingly relatable morning habits. “She’s incredibly organised. No chaos, no luxury overload – just a handful of carefully chosen steps that she clearly trusts,” Anne told Edit Suits.
Unlike the luxury product overload you might expect, Kate’s daily beauty ritual is built on simplicity and consistency. “There was one product for her hair, a natural moisturiser, and always a moment to herself before things got busy,” Anne revealed.

Kate’s morning ritual may be efficient, but it’s rooted in smart choices that work. Dr Laura Bennett, a UK-based dermatologist, broke down each step Kate reportedly follows.
Cold water to wake up
Instead of fancy toners or serums, Kate starts her day with a splash of cold water to her face. “Cold water can help reduce morning puffiness and stimulate circulation,” Dr Bennett explains. “It gives skin a refreshed look without relying on anything artificial.”
Hair care
Forget premium hair masks, Kate reaches for The Ordinary’s 100 percent Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil. “She’d work a little through the ends of her hair after brushing,” Anne says.
According to Dr.Bennett, “Argan oil is packed with vitamin E and essential fatty acids. It helps fight frizz, protect from heat styling, and gives natural shine. It’s a fantastic all-in-one for hair health.”
Light moisturiser
Despite her access to the most luxurious products in the world, Kate reportedly prefers a simple white tube of fragrance-free moisturiser. “It wasn’t a flashy luxury brand – just effective and consistent,” says Anne.
Dr Bennett adds, “Using a light, fragrance-free moisturiser helps strengthen the skin barrier, prevents dryness, and gives that subtle, healthy glow she’s known for.”
No phone rule
Surprisingly, one of Kate’s biggest beauty secrets has nothing to do with skincare. Every morning, the Princess of Wales takes five minutes to herself, simply sitting by a window with a cup of tea and zero distractions.
“She’d often sit by the window with a cup of tea for five minutes. No phone, just silence,” Anne recalls. “It’s her moment of calm before the madness of the day.”
“This kind of quiet, tech-free time first thing in the morning helps regulate cortisol levels and reduce stress,” Dr. Bennett explains. “It’s great for mental clarity – and skin health too.”
Quick and natural makeup
Kate’s signature ‘barely-there’ makeup look isn’t just effortless, it’s intentional. “She wasn’t doing a full face,” Anne reveals. “Just concealer, maybe a bit of blush. It was very quick and natural-looking.”
“Less makeup allows the skin to breathe and reduces clogged pores,” Dr. Bennett notes. “Combined with good skincare, it’s why her complexion always looks so fresh.”
Consistency
According to Anne, what stands out most about Kate’s routine is its consistency. “There weren’t dozens of serums or constant new products. Her routine didn’t change. That’s why it works.”
A spokesperson from Edit Suits added, “Kate’s morning routine shows that looking your best isn’t about excess – it’s about consistency. It’s reassuring to see that even royalty stick to simple habits that genuinely work. Her look may be polished, but the process is refreshingly grounded.”
