The event runs noon-5 p.m. April 12 at Tapped on the Lakeshore.

MANITOWOC – Ascend Services’ “Throw with All Your Heart” fundraiser is Saturday, and those who attend can compete with some local “celebrity” throwers and see them in action.

The sixth annual “Throw with All Your Heart,” which runs noon to 5 p.m. April 12, features axe throwing, golf, hammerschlagen, shuffleboard and cornhole competitions.

A Celebrity Axe Throwing Competition is a standout highlight as seven local figures go head-to-head. For a $5 entry fee, attendees can challenge these local celebrities to a friendly competition and compete for ultimate bragging rights.

Participating “celebrities” will include Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels, Manitowoc Public Utilities General Manager Troy Adams, Lighthouse Recovery Community Center Executive Director Jason Latva, artist and Manitowoc Ald. Chad Beeman, Nicolet National Bank Senior Vice President Bob Seal, Manitowoc Fire Chief Todd Blaser, and The Haven Executive Director Alex Hunt.

The celebrity who raises the most funds will win a special prize, a news release said.

All funds raised at Saturday’s event go toward supporting Ascend Services’ mission to “empower individuals with all abilities.”

Serving more than 200 youth and adults with disabilities in Manitowoc County, the fundraiser is vital in supporting Ascend Service’s mission of fostering individual growth through community involvement, education and employment opportunities.

Ascend Services Executive Director Deanna Genske shared in the release: “Our very first ‘Throw with All Your Heart’ was held in February of 2020 — just weeks before the world changed due to the pandemic. We’re so grateful to see this event thrive and reach its sixth year.”

In addition to the competitions, this year’s fundraiser introduces a silent auction featuring gift baskets and high-value prizes, as well as a wine pull. Favorites like a 50/50 raffle will also return.

The event is hosted in partnership with Tapped on the Lakeshore, whose owner, Sam Busse, oversees the axe-throwing portion of the competition. Tapped is at 3114 Memorial Drive, Two Rivers.
