It turns out that Meghan Markle is actually like the rest of us!
For the third episode of her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, which aired on Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex welcomed pal and celebrity hair colorist Kadi Lee, who owns the famed Highbrow Hippie hair salon located in Los Angeles. Like always, Meghan, 43, and her guest discussed an array of topics, but it was a very relatable fashion faux pas that really got the conversation going.
The former Suits star recalled how she first met Kadi, which prompted her to recall a hilarious self-inflicted blunder.

“So my family had just moved to California, we were staying in our friend’s home and because it was the pandemic,” Meghan began. “I kept ordering boxed hair dye and I thought, ‘I’m gonna look just like she does on the box,’” she then candidly admitted.

Unfortunately for Meghan, that wasn’t the case. “Instead it was this very inky, almost Elvira black hair,” the mom-of-two shared with a giggle.
As a result, Meghan remembered: ‘I texted Serge [Normant] and he said, ‘You need to see Kadi [Lee],’ and you came over!’”
Things took a serious and candid turn when the actress-turned lifestyle guru opened up about launching her brand, As Ever, earlier this month
“Okay, real talk. Running a business is a lot,” she said before pointing out: “Building something new is a long road of making decisions in the dark and then holding this vision in your head when no one else can even see it yet. It can be slow, it can be scrappy, it can be exhausting.”
Meghan described the build-up to As Ever as “a process” and confessed she had “no roadmap” to help her.
“There’s no manual and if you knew how hard it would get, you might hesitate to start at all,” she added.
Despite the hardships, Meghan insisted it had all been worth it, saying: “That initial bravado, that initial going in like, ‘I’ve got this,’ maybe it’s essential,” she said.
Meghan also addressed changing her brand’s name from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever during the episode.
“I had secured As Ever as a name in 2022, and then as everything started to evolve last year, and bringing in a partner the size that it was, it was just so interesting,” Meghan said.
She continued, “You remember, I said, ‘I like American Riviera as an umbrella,’ and then be able to have verticals beneath it. And maybe have the ‘Orchard’ really small. But when that’s not feasible … suddenly it became this word salad. I didn’t love that so much.”
“I was like, ‘OK, let’s go back to the thing that I’ve always loved. Let’s use the name that I protected for a reason that had sort of been under wraps,'” she continued.
“And then we were able to focus in the quiet and put our heads down and build on something that no one was sniffing around to even see about. It was really just helpful to have that quiet period.”
