Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, have a big day coming up. On April 29, the royal pair will celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary. And while they are a rather busy duo as the parents of three kids and, you know, being the prince and princess and all, it does appear like they’ll at least get to have a little getaway together to honour the big day. According to the palace, they plan to go somewhere rather meaningful.
Various outlets are reporting, citing a statement from Kensington Palace, that the couple will jet off to Scotland for their anniversary, which also happens to be the location where they first met as young college students in 2005. People reports the couple will have a little downtime on their trip, just the two of them, as they are set to visit an island off the northwest coast of Scotland for two days starting on April 29.

However, the couple, like many of us going on vacation these days, have turned it into a workcation, with several stops planned along the way to celebrate “rural communities and the craft work, according to People, along with the farming communities on the Isle of Mull.
During their visit, the couple is also expected to launch a partnership between their Royal Foundation and the local area to support two community spaces on Mull.
Though, again, hopefully they’ll be able to find plenty of time to enjoy the rugged islands, filled with colorful homes that line the shore around the fishing port of Tobermory, take a bike ride along its miles and miles of paths, play a round of golf, visit its many historic sites, or even take pony ride through the green pastures. And naturally, they can keep an eye out for the island’s plentiful wildlife, which includes eagles, red deer, and puffins, along with otters, seals, and dolphins who play just off the coast.
All of this, by the way, you can do and see on a visit to the island, too. And while the palace did not disclose where the couple will be staying during their getaway, there really are plenty of options to choose from in Tobermory, including hotels like the waterfront Tobermory Hotel or the family-run Park Lodge Hotel. There are also a number of B&Bs for something more quaint, along with a few campsites for those looking to rough it, though we can’t imagine Will and Kate are the type. Still, you never know.
