Though there’s been a lot happening in the royal world in the past few weeks, my mind keeps returning to Prince Harry’s angry comments after the completion of the two-day judicial appeal in his security case against the British Government.

Saying he was “exhausted” and “overwhelmed,” Harry made a series of vague allegations, including that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case and that’s really sad.” He added that “people would be shocked by what’s being held back” during in-camera parts of the appeal.

Harry’s remarks were published on April 11 in People and the Telegraph. More was published a few days later , including information in court documents that reveal an undated terrorist threat against him: “The appellant confirmed that he had requested certain protection after a threat was made against him by al-Qaeda.”

Prince Harry believes the system by which his security needs in the United Kingdom are evaluated isn’t good enough to protect him or his family. What his comments and those articles also reveal are a shifting narrative, wrong assumptions, and veiled threats.
