Prince William was passionate as he cheered on his beloved Aston Villa during the UEFA Conference League semi-final match against Olympiacos last night.

The Prince of Wales was animated as he joined his fellow football fans in the stands of Villa Park to watch the match. The father-of-three, dressed in a light blue shirt and navy coat, chatted to staff in the stands during the game and could be seen gesturing towards the pitch. It was an emotional night for the Prince, who stood and roared with joy when Villa scored, but looked pensive as Olympiacos took the lead.

The royal explained why he chose to support Villa while speaking with BBC Sport’s Gary Lineker back in 2015: ‘A long time ago at school, I got into football big time. All my friends were Chelsea or Manchester United fans, and I didn’t really want to follow the run-of-the-mill team. I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments. Aston Villa has always had a great history.’
