The respect is mutual, with McDonough waxing lyrical about how important it felt to have the support of the Princess of Wales. ‘She’s absolutely lovely. She’s charming and we’re very lucky to have her,’ the jeweller told Town & Country. ‘She is a working mother, and I think it is the sort of jewellery that you can wear, and no one’s going to point the finger at you, or run you over in the street because they want your ring. I think it’s just very nice to wear fine jewellery.’

The Prince and Princess of Wales were not joined by their children for the royal trip to Scotland, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis staying behind at home. Catherine still found a way to keep her trio close to her heart, though, wearing two necklaces dedicated to the young royals. Both sentimental pieces were designed by one of her favourite jewellers, Daniella Draper, with one gold chain adorned with ‘G’, ‘C’, and ‘L’ charms, and another bearing a pendant also engraved with her children’s initials.
