The Wales family is known for their coordinating ensembles and polished portraits, but on occasion, I get to see their enthusiasm and playful dynamic.
For instance, when Princess Catherine announced the completion of her chemotherapy treatments in 2024, she shared candid footage of the family laughing and bonding outdoors. Also, earlier this month, Prince William and Prince George couldn’t contain their excitement when they attended the UEFA Champions League Quarter Finals. And of course, I can’t forget about Prince Louis’s silly antics on the Buckingham Palace balcony. It’s safe to say that the family of five are an expressive (and passionate!) bunch—and former royal gardener Jack Stooks would certainly agree.
Speaking on behalf of Big Fat Links, Stooks revealed that Kate Middleton and Prince William instilled this passion in their children—and we see this on full display when they join their parents for casual sporting events.

Stooks explained, “Prince George joins his dad at events like football games, where you see them jumping up, shouting and screaming. They’ve obviously got a common interest and that’s quite nice. They’re introducing him into the royal way of life with something he’s actually enjoying doing, rather than taking him to more serious engagements.”
He continued, “It’s the same with Princess Charlotte, we’ve seen her at the tennis final. Kate’s an avid tennis player. I remember doing some work in a garden near Highgrove once, and suddenly William and Kate turned up. This is when they were still dating and they’d come to play tennis in the neighbouring estate because there’s no tennis court at Highgrove. It’s a real passion of Kate’s and her daughter’s got that passion as well.”

As for Prince Louis, the former royal gardener explained that his high energy and humor have already made him a favorite among royal fans.
He said, “We don’t quite know what his passions and loves are yet. But when we do see him at events, he’s just what everyone wants to see really. He’s the one that keeps everyone laughing. We see him pulling faces, doing all the things that young children do, and that’s lovely to see.”
It’s worth noting that Middleton passed down her passion for photography to her kids—especially Louis, who snapped a pic of his mom in honor of World Cancer Day in February. And of course, I can’t forget about their love of animals and the great outdoors—courtesy of Prince William.
Seems like the royal kids are definitely following in their parents’ footsteps.
