Incredible, amazing, show-stopping: Tommy Hilfiger takes E! on a walk down #MetGala memory lane.

Hi, I’m Tommy Hilfiger. You’re watching EA’s Met Gala by [Music] design. The Met Ball is the high-profile fashion event in the world. It’s like the Super Bowl of fashion. This has been very inspiring for me. I think tailoring is very important and I think black tailoring has brought it to the forefront as a result of it being extremely out of the box. We use Tommy Hilfiger’s DNA as the base and in addition to that we will bring a new feature into it every time. This year is our 40th anniversary and we wanted to pay homage to our tailoring over the years. So we looked into the archive and we took a lot of ideas from from the past and we made them new for today. We modernized a lot of the looks and what we thought was that we wanted to be elegant, sophisticated, chic but bold. I think when we dressed Gigi for the carpet, this was a very important look because it was asymmetrical, very chic. Again, couture and Gigi was very involved in the I would say design inspiration. She really wanted it to be a certain way. So we worked with her very closely to develop something that became memorable, historical, and I think very important in our archive as well as the the Met archive and for the uh the Met history, I guess you could say. This is Zenaia’s princess dress. She and La Roach, her stylist, worked with us on developing this. It took 3 months to develop. We have five battery packs, 20 carbon fiber rods. We have eight engineers or had eight engineers working on it. And we have I think 40 m of LED lights in the garment. And we would say that uh maybe this was the most important look for that Met. It was called camp. And I think it was probably one of the most exciting Met balls I’d been to. Uh, everyone went way out and I I think this was probably one of the most memorable looks we we’ve ever done. Thanks for watching. E, we’ll see you at the mat.

    1. A slim line 1920, silk spaghetti string w8th v back and sheere slip of hand sewn savorski chrystals with plume or peacock pattern would have been a better statement.
