A friend of Prince William has branded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s conduct as “absolutely vile” after Harry’s explosive BBC interview last week.
The Duke of Sussex, who recently lost his court appeal over security arrangements for UK visits, gave a BBC interview that sent shockwaves around the world and within the Royal Family.
As well as voicing his disappointment over the Court of Appeal’s decision, Harry spoke about feeling “singled out” due to his security measures, the changes were introduced in 2020 – the same year he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and moved to the US.
He also suggested that his father, King Charles, could have “resolved” the situation, the Mirror reports.
Despite portraying the royals in a negative light, Harry said he would “love” to mend ties with his family, subtly hinting at concerns about how much time his father has left to live.
While William has remained silent following his younger brother’s interview, friends close to the Prince of Wales told US outlet The Daily Beast that Harry and Meghan’s actions have been “absolutely vile” adding that Harry’s interview suggests “he has no interest in reconciling.”
A friend of William stated: “If he did, a period of silence would have been the right thing to do.”
William, the King and other senior royals have continued with their public engagements, appearing united in the wake of Harry’s interview.

Although Harry’s recent interview might not have been well-received by his brother, it is understood that their relationship has been rocky ever since Harry published his memoir Spare earlier in 2023.
Harry, who has lived in Montecito the last five years, hinted at the rift his book caused during his BBC interview. He expressed: “Of course some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course they will never forgive me for lots of things. But I would love reconciliation with my family.”
Prince Harry also declared that his legal battle over security in the UK is another reason behind the family feud, claiming that his father, King Charles, “won’t speak” to him about it.

Following Harry’s explosive interview Buckingham Palace issued a response. Although the statement steered away from addressing any specific allegations about family tension and instead focused on the Duke’s ongoing legal case regarding his security provision.
The official statement read: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”
