King Charles recently left Prince William completely gobsmacked!
William’s shock wasn’t over a royal degree or any recent drama with Prince Harry. No, William was a bit “surprised” to find out that his 76-year-old father has some pretty hip music tastes.
In March, the British monarch released an Apple Music playlist titled His Majesty King Charles III’s Playlist. King Charles included songs by Grace Jones, Bob Marley, RAYE, Diana Ross, Michael Bublé, Kylie Minogue, and Beyoncé.
“I was expecting a lot of classical music, so I was surprised,” said William during a visit to Mentivity House, a youth center in south London, on April 24, according to Hello.
Adeyemi Michael, the director of Mentivity House, asked if King Charles might have included some “Garage and UK funky” tracks on the playlist. “I’m not sure he’d know what that was,” said William with a smile.

“Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. I know that it is also the case for so many others,” said King Charles in a video message that announced his playlist. “It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory, to comfort us in times of sadness, and take us to distant places.
“But, perhaps above all, it can lift our spirits to such a degree. All the more so when it brings us together in celebration. In other words, it brings us joy,” added the King of England.
Prince William will have to put his father’s playlist on when he takes Princess Kateon their wedding anniversary trip. The royal couple will visit Scotland, but while they are there, they will go by a different name.
Instead of being referred to as “Prince” and “Princess,” William and Kate will use their titles as Duke and Duchess of Rothesay. The couple inherited the titles after King Charles and Queen Camilla ascended to the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
