Kate Middleton debunked a claim by Meghan Markle during her latest appearance at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

The Princess of Wales attended the Palace gardens on Tuesday alongside Prince William and other royals. Her radiant yellow dress drew attention, but it was Kate’s affectionate hugs that truly touched hearts, subtly countering Meghan’s 2022 claim that she and William were averse to such displays of warmth.

In the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex recounted her initial encounter with the couple, hinting that William and Kate found hugging somewhat uncomfortable.

Meghan had shared, “When Will and Kate came over and I was meeting her (Kate) for the first time I remember, I was in ripped jeans, I was barefoot.”

She continued, “Like, I was a hugger, I have always been a hugger. I didn’t realize that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.”

One admirer commented on X, “She is a hugger.”

Another remarked, “And who said the royals didn’t hug! This is pure joy at seeing someone..not something staged for the cameras.”

A third person shared, “How lovely to see this. He must be so happy to have his big hug from Catherine.”

Kate’s reputation for hugging the public is well-established, as she frequently displays affection during her royal duties.
