Denzel Washington’s reps have addressed the heated exchange between the actor and a photographer at the Can Film Festival. On May 19th, the 70-year-old walked alongside director Spike Lee and co-star ASAP Rocky on the red carpet for the premiere of their new film, Highest to Lowest. Denzel began a conversation with ASAP before he was seen walking in the direction of a photographer who is trying to get his attention. The photographer appears to grab Denzel’s arm, prompting him to yank his arm away and point directly in his face while repeatedly saying, “Stop it.” before walking back toward his cast members. And in a May 20th statement to E! News, the rep says, “It was a great evening.” Inside the theater, Denzel was celebrated for his role in the film, which reunited him with Spike for the first time in 20 years. Denzel was overcome with emotion as Spike who previously worked with him on the film’s Mo Better Blues, Malcolm X, He Got Game, and Inside Man presented him with an honorary palm door. The award, which means golden palm in English, is the highest honor presented at the Can Film Festival. It is given to the best film in the official competition. The trophy itself is a handcrafted jewelry piece made of 24 karat gold. [Music]
