Ranking all 7 Live-Action Star Wars Series | Cinemaze Shorts #shorts
My quick ranking of all the Star Wars live action series in honor of Andor season 2’s release. Number seven, The Book of Boba Fett. The long awaited return of Boba Fett is wasted in a dull story filled with aimless flashbacks with no payoff at all and weak present-day action. While the best episodes are about the Mandalorian, making Fett feel like a guest in his own show. Number six, The Acolyte. great martial arts inspired lightsaber action and soul is an interesting character but the whole message and morals of this show feels confused as it presents a turn to the dark side as a moment of triumph and self-acceptance which feels like a disservice to everything that has come before in the franchise and a real punch in the face to the fans number five Obi-Wan Kenobi McGregor brings his absolute agame but unfortunately the script feels like a movie stretched out into six episodes with repeating plot lines like Leia getting kidnapped twice and some laughably bad moment number four Ahsoka definitely the traditional Star Wars show dealing with the Jedi, the Empire, and lightsaber battles. It plays like a continuation of Rebels, which as a Rebels fan, I enjoy. It’s great to see some returning faces like Anakin, Thrawn, and Ezra, plus the new standout character of Balon Skull, but you can’t help but feel like Ahsoka is so dull in her own series. Not a good Ahsoka show, but a decent enough Star Wars chapter. Number three, Skeleton Crew. A fun, solid adventure in the Star Wars galaxy inspired by films like The Goonies. It knows exactly what it is and executes that premise perfectly, but it kind of feels like it only gets to number three due to the failures of the other shows down this list rather than its own merits. Number two, The Mandalorian. Season 1 is a great episodic season given us weekly adventures in this galaxy underpinned by a heartfelt relationship. Season 2 begins to connect to the wider universe. It can feel repetitive with its plot bumping into famous characters, but there’s enough heart and powerful moments to maintain momentum. Unfortunately, season 3 is a big miss. What happened here? There’s so many plot lines that it doesn’t execute any of them effectively. Mando feels sidelined to focus on Bokeutan and it feels way too soon to reunite with Grou undoing the effective ending of season 2. That said, the first two seasons are strong enough to earn the second spot. Number one, Andor. This show blows the other shows out of the water, delivering a masterclass in slowb burn character-based storytelling. This presents the real struggles and sacrifices involved in building a rebellion using characters from all walks of life. It shows us the real grip the Empire has on the galaxy or even fleshing out Imperial characters and why they support the regime. It’s mature. It’s gritty, it’s realistic, and it’s almost flawless.
With the recent release of the Andor Season 2 the latest instalment in the Star Wars Universe, its time to look back on all seven series that have releases so far from The Mandalorian to Andor Season Two, and rank them from the worst to the best.
