i’m losing my memory That’s great Katie Thirstston is sharing her truth Nearly four months after the Bachelorette alum announced she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer which has since progressed to stage 4 Katie is now detailing a few of the difficult side effects she has been grappling with in a video posted to Instagram on June 1st I’m losing my memory That’s great Going through customs and them being like “Where are you coming from?” And I looked at him I was like “I don’t remember I don’t remember.” Jeff and I got in a not an argument but you know like a little disagreement I was like “This has happened before.” And he’s like “When?” I was like “I don’t know but I know it has.” Um we’re able to laugh about it now Indeed Along with the recent memory loss the reality star also reveals that her hair has been quote coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps And after finishing two months of medication she has been responsible for making quote big decisions about how she wants to treat her liver I just finished my second month of treatment And if you’re asking how long treatment is technically forever I am optimistic about medical advancements in the future Fingers crossed As a stage four girly Um but right now after finishing 2 months of my medication my hair is coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps And after sharing that she entered medically induced menopause last month Katie also details that the medication meant to suppress her hormones simply didn’t work And if switching to another medication still doesn’t prove successful she reveals she might have to quote “Get my ovaries taken out.” Oh yeah and uh Zolex didn’t work which is supposed to be suppressing my ovaries/ hormones Got my period That’s not supposed to happen So we’re switching to Lupron And if that doesn’t work might have to get my ovaries taken out Not ideal But the vacation was nice Now I’m back at it again in New York City trying to live my best life as a cancer patient Sorry I’m not going to I’m not going to edit that out I’m just going to end this cuz I want it just to be my truth I guess Anyway happy Sunday [Music]

I don’t know who she is, but my heart goes to her. I’ve known too many people in my life who have fought breast cancer, my mom included. It’s a nasty, virulent disease. All my best wishes and prayers that she can beat this.
People getting diagnosed with this has gotten out of hand.

Poor girl to get cancer so young.
I have a friend who has been battling Stage 4 Ovarian cancer, she had to have major surgery, and Chemo. She's still going strong today more than 4 years later. I really hope Katie pulls through, she seems to have the positive attitude that my friend does and I really think that helped her more than anything.

I don't know who she is, but I wish her all the best. She looks so incredibly young. This is so unfair. I hope more than anything that metastatic breast cancer can one day be like HIV, which is now a chronic but not terminal illness. I know many people with metastatic breast cancer who are beating the odds and surviving for decades. Being on cancer treatment long term is brutal, but all chronic illness is.
