The 2025 Trooping the Colour went according to plan, and there were no adorably cheeky moments from Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Prince William’s youngest child, Prince Louis; despite what royal fans were looking forward to. In fact, there was only one moment he needed to be corrected, and it was his mother doing the correcting. So this got us thinking, did they switch up their alleged parenting style?

Okay, let’s go back a bit to this past weekend! Lip reader Jeremy Freeman told the Mirror that Kate allegedly said four words to Louis to keep him doing the proper etiquette. She allegedly said, “National anthem. Louis, stand.”

Now, everyone in the family has corrected Louis’ behavior before, including his siblings, but he fixed up himself without hesitation. So this has people wondering: are Kate and William not doing their usual parenting style with him?

A royal insider claimed to OK in 2023 that the Prince and Princess of Wales inadvertently play favorites with Louis, saying, “William and Kate are easier on Louis because he’s the baby of the family. They don’t want to break his little spirit. William and Kate do their best to teach him how to behave, but understand these events are tiresome for a youngster.”

And back in 2024, a royal insider even hinted at this change happening.

They told Life and Style Magazine that Louis is “growing up very fast,” and because of this, his mischievous streak may be coming to a close. “He still has that cheeky streak that people adore, and he’s really starting to settle down,” the insider said. “He’ll probably always be a little mischievous, that’s a part of his personality, but there’s certainly been a noticeable shift. He’s doing his chores and does seem to be better behaved in public. It’s too soon to say he’ll never get caught sticking his tongue out at the camera, but William and Kate are crossing their fingers that he’s reigned all that in.”

For those who don’t know, William and Kate have been together on and off since 2003. Since their nuptials, they have since welcomed three children named George, 11, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, 7.

In a previous podcast episode of Happy Mum, Happy Baby, hosted by Giovanna Fletcher, via Town and Country, Kate talked about how she incorporates her family traditions into her parenting.

“I had an amazing Granny who devoted a lot of time to us—playing with us, doing arts and crafts, and going to the greenhouse to do gardening, and cooking with us—and I try and incorporate a lot of the experiences that she gave us at the time into the experiences that I give my children now,” she said.
