kate Middleton is figuring out her new normal the Princess of Wales pulled out of a planned appearance at the Royal Ascot on June 18th hours before she was set to return to the annual horse race alongside Prince William Kensington Palace confirmed to NBC News according to the palace Cade was disappointed to have to miss the event but is still figuring out the right balance for herself when it comes to completing public engagements following her cancer battle while the couple who share Prince George Princess Charlotte and Prince Louie has been a fixture at the Royal Ascot over the years this will be the second year that William will attend the event without Kate who was having chemotherapy during last year’s race at this year’s event he’ll be accompanied by his father King Charles III and Queen Camila as well as Kate’s mother Carol Middleton kate’s decision not to attend the royal ascot follows an action-packed few days for the 43-year-old in addition to attending the annual trooping the color parade alongside her children and the rest of the royal family on June 14th she also appeared at the Order of the Guarder service on June 16th her first official public appearance since her cancer treatment was at last year’s trooping the color but she had started to ramp up public engagements earlier this year after announcing that she was in remission kate wrote on eggs in January “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery as anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know it takes time to adjust to a new normal she continued i am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead there is much to look forward to thank you to everyone for your continued support later that month William commended his wife for her incredible resilience in the face of adversity as she battled cancer the 42-year-old wrote in his birthday tribute to Kate to the most incredible wife and mother the strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable george Charlotte Louie and I are so proud of you happy birthday Catherine we love you w [Music]
