Prince Harry’s rift with the royal family remains ongoing despite his pleas for reconciliation, and the reason for that may actually be his brother, Prince William.
William, who is celebrating his 43rd birthday, is said to be the major block between Harry and other members of the royal family, including King Charles, reconciling after a major rift that emerged when he and Meghan Markle famously stepped back from their royal roles in 2020 and moved to the United States.
And while it has been made clear that certain members of the family refuse to intervene, it appears William has made it brutally clear where he stands on his younger brother coming back into the fold. This is despite Harry seemingly extending an “olive branch” after losing his bid for taxpayer-funded UK security for his family.
Reports claim that things have gotten so bad that William, who will inherit the throne as King from their father, has seemingly blocked all attempts at things being mended.
It has been said that he doesn’t want to “inherit” a compromise that is made that he has no interest in once he becomes king.
“William doesn’t talk about Harry anymore,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “Everyone knows it’s a subject that they shouldn’t bring up, so he hasn’t brought up the interview and won’t.
“William is done with Harry,” the source added. “When he becomes King, everybody thinks the divide will become even wider.”
The drama has apparently also extended to include William’s wife, Princess Kate Middleton, and the two are not giving Harry or Meghan “the time of day,” and are keeping conversations about them to a minimum or a “less stressful environment.”
“No one on the staff can mention Meghan’s name to Kate right now, her name is basically banned because of the stress around it, and she doesn’t want it anymore,” a source told Us Weekly, stating that Middleton “will never see Meghan again” even if a reconciliation were to happen.
Overall, the two allegedly have no interest in ever reconciling with Markle, though they would consider talking to Harry again under one condition.
“The first step is to stop talking to the public about private matters,” the source said. “They don’t see a path forward until Harry can stay quiet.”
