    1. From her "Maude" days, Bea Arthur was accustomed to being the undisputed star of the show. In both "Maude" and her short lived sitcom "Amanda's", she made every effort to surround herself with, at least at the time, relatively unknown supporting cast members. (This is why she also clashed with Oscar nominated actress Hermione Baddeley, who played housekeeper Mrs. Naugatuck in "Maude". Baddeley was later replaced by a completely unknown actress who played the next housekeeper). When the time came for "The Golden Girls", Betty White was the consummate match for Arthur in terms of fame and experience. Rue McClanahan had been a supporting cast member in "Maude" while Estelle Getty was also of supporting status, but White had already been the star of two shows in her own right, and was highly and widely celebrated. Arthur did not especially appreciate the competition.

    2. Nothing here was new news. They didn’t hate each other They just had polar opposite personalities and didn’t have much in common. It happens. I think they each respected each other’s work, they just weren’t best friends. Just because you work with someone, that doesn’t automatically mean you have to hang out and all hold hands and sing on your personal time. It’s also widely known that Golden Girls ended because Bea wanted to move on. 7 years was more than a good run in the 80’s.

    3. Hard to believe, Betty seemed like such a nice lady, seems hard to not get alone with her. They can't speak for themselves so don't believe it. There show brings laughter, and we need that in these times.

    4. Why they saying “ their” that makes it as tho they both hated or were bitter towards each other Bea Arthur hated Betty White. BW has always said I dunno why she didn’t like me but I loved her, whatever her reasons were she was entitled you don’t have to like everybody, but it never came up on, screen at least not to me on the show. It should have said BA dislike of BW not their feud 🤦🏻‍♂️

    5. Ok can we NOT? I hate these tabloid stories like this. Especially when these two can’t defend themselves. I think that both were professional with one another but they were different people, but I don’t think it’s near as bad as the media says it was. It’s very misconstrued and blown out of proportion…..

To be quite frank, I think this is quite disrespectful to talk about these incredible ladies like this. Let’s just move on!

    6. From my understanding, they just had different personalities and they came from different backgrounds, betty being use to Hollywood and bea being use to broadway

    7. This isn’t news. They were great actresses and had no obligation to like each other. Some people don’t get along and personalities don’t mess. That’s okay. Being an adult is understanding sometime you don’t get along with everyone and vice versa. I just don’t like when they pit actresses against each other, I’ve never seen the Madea go this hard after male actors.
