no wonder our next guest was recently named one of the top 100 female artists of the century by Billboard i have never been more excited i knew she is now heading to Las Vegas for her I am me residency at the Venetian Resorts exclusive venue Voltater which is amazing sold out performances on Labor Day weekend you can’t even go so she added additional shows in September welcome to EN’s Ashley Simpson Ross that was the best intro ever we love your year we love your year we’ve been singing all week we’re like Ashley’s coming and it’s been awesome i love you guys too excited this is like We have been asking for this for years why now and why Vegas it is time i mean last year was my 20th year anniversary of my first album Autobiography and I performed and I was like three songs didn’t feel like enough and just to feel that love for my fans that they were still there and loyal and I was like oh and I felt it too i was like “Oh I need to do a full set you got to do it i’m beyond excited i’m I’m really ready.” I feel like I’m back in 2005 2006 because I can go into Urban Outfitters now and pick up this exclusive vinyl and I’m like “What is there a graphic tea with my name on it how cool is that and what does it mean to have this like sort of re-released in that way?” Oh it’s so amazing and it’s so I mean my daughter likes to go into Urban Outfitters so to have that like moment of seeing that in urban and and also like her friends listening to the music and the memes of on a Tuesday I’m fading right i’m like I all my friends send me that every Tuesday they’re like I’m sure you’ve been sent this but now you have lived so much life in these last 20 years are you thinking about writing a new album and like what’s it going to be about you think yes definitely and that’s I mean even a part of doing this Vegas show and saying I am me i mean there’s just so many different layers to what I am now and it’s so fun to go back and explore that but throughout that yes I am writing and you know I mean there’s so many things to write about love it like every day is a story and that’s really what inspired all of my songs you know um it’s like going to the studio every day what I went through oh a breakup that day that you know just going with that baggage and unpacking it it’s amazing all right so your mother-in-law I don’t know if you guys have heard of her Diana Ross she also had a residency get this at the Venetian in 2015 so how does it feel to sort of follow in the footsteps and what costume pieces do you think she left in the basement that you can now steal i mean I would love to steal anything anytime I’ve ever you know she’s given me anything I’m like “Oh my god this is the most beautiful piece.” Um so I mean her archive is beyond insane so anything she’s uh willing to give me I’ll put on for good luck but um yes we’ve seen her in Vegas so many times not at that show but you know we’ve I’m always inspired by She’s amazing she’s a mom she keeps it all together she’s a grandma she’s Diana Ross that’s my next question is what kind of grandma is the boss like the best one yeah and she’s so hands-on so hands-on and you know you wouldn’t think of it like that she’s just about family cuz when I see her at the Met Gala she had all the names that was so sweet what did it feel like to see her at the Met Gala with all the baby names it was amazing actually I was watching them and Evan was with her and I was like “Everybody hurry down amy’s on TV and daddy.” Um and it’s I mean it’s iconic i bet I mean this every piece of it like and Jagger your name’s right there and Ziggy and Bronx the holidays must be lit at Diana’s they are we have so many cousins so I mean so many the kids have so many cousins but yeah so it’s like we’re all in one home everyone’s playing the kids are all together it’s you know no one ever wants to leave right i love this well we get so excited when we get to see you because I feel like you and Jessica you both grew up in this intense me under this magnifying glass and you’ve remained so close we see you together all the time on social media and stuff what does that mean to you to have her in your life i mean I think those things are just a part of what you know came with our lives and and together we’re you know always strong you know i think that we definitely know how to overcome those things um and not harp on them and not look back and move forward and you know um I mean it’s my sister we always have the best time together i also think nobody like knows you better than like your sibling you know it’s like it’s you don’t even have to say anything you just get it i bet you were the fighter of the two yes like I bet if anyone said anything bad about Jessica you were ready to fight i was i’m like what did you just say about my You make her want to LA okay um All right you and your wonderful husband are about to hit 11 years of wed bliss congratulations to you that is a huge What is your favorite thing about him oh god i mean everything i mean he’s my best friend i love to collaborate with him and actually our anniversary I’ll be playing a show at Voltater it’s the 30th august 30th so are you gonna do some Would you maybe do one i’m gonna do something special or maybe I I’ll bring him out for one of your songs you’re going to do it oh I love that or you’ll just do like your He’s so cool he’s so cool you both are and he’s so sweet and we love you so much and we’re so excited for you this is amazing and you guys you can catch Ashley doing her I Am
