Amid alcohol cancer warning, more younger Americans drinking mocktails
Why a warning about an increased risk of cancer from drinking alcohol may resonate most with younger Americans, who in recent years were already choosing mocktails over margaritas.
Country star Brett Young has found his “2.0” self.
Before launching into his new song “Drink With You” off his new album “2.0” on the “Today” show on June 25, Young, 44, opened up about the inspirations that contributed to the record, including his family of four.
“I’ve jumped really deep into health and wellness, and I’m trying to hang around longer for my family,” he said. “It’s kind of Brett Young 2.0.”
Young and his wife, Taylor Mills Young, share daughters Presley, 5, and Rowan, 4. Lifestyle changes for the new and improved version of the “In Case You Didn’t Know” singer “started with alcohol,” he said.
“We cut that out at the beginning of last year,” the father of two said. “Mornings with babies were not feeling great, and it wasn’t serving me in my life or my career.”
He continued, “And then I just started thinking, ‘Well, what else can we do to hang around longer for the kiddos?”
Young described going “down that rabbit hole” of information related to health and said, “I’ve just been really chasing it ever since.”
Track 7 off “2.0” completes the trifecta of songs Young has written about his family. “Wifey song ✅ Presley song ✅ and finally… Rowan song ✅” he alongside a June 21 video of him performing “Full House.”
Young has gone beyond music, also publishing his first children’s book based on his 2020 single “Lady.” Titled “Love You Little Lady,” the 2021 picture book – crafted before Rowan’s birth – is dedicated to Presley and his wife.
With a smattering of performances scheduled throughout the summer, Young is set to resume his Back to Basics 2025 World Tour in October.
