As a future King, Prince William has had a lot of responsibility on his shoulders from a young age. As the now Prince of Wales, William, 43, is no doubt having to think ahead of the big role that he will one day inherit after King Charles’ reign comes to an end.

While King Charles, 76, himself may be supporting William on this front, it is believed that the prince also has a key supporter who many would not expect – Carole Middleton. Since William married Princess Kate in 2011, it is believed Kate’s mum Carole has been a major support for the prince, with this still being the case.

Just last week, Carole and her son-in-law were spotted together at Royal Ascot, with Dr. Arthur Cassidy, royal commentator and celebrity psychologist, telling Hello! magazine what he thinks about the pair’s relationship.

He told Hello!: “Since Prince William met Kate’s mother Carole Middleton, he would have intuitively been attracted to her charismatic nature and fun-loving personality.

“The astute, highly motivated and driven businesswoman was exactly what Prince William needed to provide the context for his own personal identity development amid all of his royal responsibilities.

“Having the business head of Carole would be a most significant and refreshing external source as William could turn to her wisdom and guidance on how he and Kate could make the monarchy more relatable for the future.”

William is also believed to have a special relationship with Carole, 70, as she welcomed him with open arms to the family, long before William and Kate exchanged vows 14 years ago.

Princess Kate’s dad Michael Middleton also shares a good relationship with William, publicly expressing his fondness for the prince before he married Kate.

Royal expert Rachael Andrews told OK! in 2022: “He [William] of course, lost Diana (his mother) when he was very young and probably looks up to Carole because he’s lacked a mother figure for so much of his life.

“With Carole and Michael, he’s got people to confide in who are removed from the monarchy.”
