Dan Amboyer compared himself to Prince William
An actor who once starred as Prince William has admitted he “can’t imagine” what it was like to grow up in the royal family and experience constant attention as a teenager.
Dan Amboyer played the Prince of Wales in the 2011 Hallmark film William & Catherine: A Royal Romance. In the movie, he starred opposite Alice St. Clair, who played Kate Middleton.
The film tells the story of Kate and William from their first days together as friends at the University of St. Andrews to their blossoming romantic relationship. It also followed the couple as they got married at one of the most celebrated weddings in history.

Dan reflected on his experience working on the movie as he looked back at the similarities and differences between himself and William. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, he said, “We’re such opposites.”

The actor elaborated, “I think I connected with [the fact] he seemed really to have a genuine care for people and the work he was trying to do at that time. I connected to that aspect of it.”
However, there were plenty of differences, and Dan admitted he has “always been a little bit of a quieter, reserved person.” He continued, “I appreciated what it might be like to be in his shoes and have constant scrutiny while you’re trying to figure out who you are.”
The film star joked, “I mean, I was a mess when I was a teenager. I can’t imagine living life through that having people with cameras all around you. And so I kind of connected to what my must be like to be going through all that with all those added elements.”

Thinking back to his time on set, Dan told us it was a “fun experience.” As well as Dan and Alice, William & Catherine: A Royal Romance also stars Jane Alexander, Victor Garber, and Jean Smart.
It’s not just William’s childhood that has seen him face a lot of personal woes in the public eye. In recent years, his wife Kate has undergone chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer.
Back in November, William admitted the past year had been “brutal” for his family, with his father King Charles also undergoing cancer treatment. “It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life,” the Prince of Wales said at the Earthshot Prize.
Kate has since announced she is in remission from cancer. In a post shared with fans, she said, “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead.”
