Dad Reveals Teen’s Haunting Words Before Walking Off 120-Foot Cliff | E! News
ryan Walk is sharing an update after his 14-year-old son Zayn walked off the edge of a cliff The father and son were hiking California’s Mount Whitney on June 10th when the teen experienced altitude sickness and walked off a 120 ft trail ledge According to his family the teen has been in a coma since being rescued but his dad shared that his son is now breathing on his own after being taken off a ventilator telling the SFGate June 25th quote “It’s going to be a survival story in the end but right now we’re still in the middle of it.” Ryan and Zayn who his dad described as an experienced hiker and active kid who competes in distance running swimming and triathlons had already summited the 14,55 ft peak via the mountaineers route when the boy fell ill After they reached the summit Zayn started showing signs of altitude sickness and apparently experienced eerie visions including fictional characters Ryan tells the outlet once they made it back to Mount Whitney’s trail camp Zayn seemed to feel better but after another hour of making their way down the teens started to feel disoriented Ryan explains what happened next to NBC affiliate KSNV He was not present any longer I heard um steps to to my right and he was walking off the ledge
Once he was stabilized Zayn was flown about 230 miles away to Sunrise Children’s Hospital While doctors told Zay’s family it was fairly miraculous he wasn’t hurt even worse Ryan said in addition to head trauma the teen has a broken ankle and finger as well as a fractured pelvis When we were on the mountain and I was holding him I kept saying that I got you and I’m not going anywhere [Music]
