Intriguing new insights have been unveiled, revealing that Queen Elizabeth II was decidedly unhappy with the whole “Megxit” situation.

Extraordinary revelations have come to light from notes of private conversations with her cousin and confidante Lady Elizabeth Anson.

The late Queen’s candid discussions about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now accessible publicly, providing a unique glimpse into Her Majesty’s stance on their departure for a life in California in 2020.

Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith conducted interviews with Lady Elizabeth, and excerpts from those conversations have recently surfaced on her Extra Substack blog. In one revealing snippet, we discover: “She (Queen Elizabeth II) said she was not at all content.”

There is also a mention of an instance where “Harry was rude to her for ten minutes.”

Tensions were also apparent around Harry and Meghan’s nuptials back in 2018.

The Duchess of Sussex’s decision to keep details of her Givenchy wedding gown under wraps seemed to vex the Queen, reports the Mirror.

The dress, noted for its open bateau neckline and three-quarter length sleeves, was eventually deemed “flamboyant” by the late monarch, who reportedly found it inappropriate for someone previously married – Meghan having been wed to Trevor Engelson prior to her Royal union.

Within Ms Smith’s latest release of notes, Lady Elizabeth commented: “Meghan wouldn’t tell her (Queen Elizabeth II) about the wedding dress”.

These words come from the Queen’s cousin, famed for her role as a party planner, who expressed uncertainty regarding the Queen’s impressions of Meghan with the telling line: “The jury [was] out on whether she likes Meghan.”

A sequence of events reveals the tension surrounding “Megxit,” the term coined for Harry and Meghan’s move to the US.

According to Royal writer Lady Elizabeth, the situation left Prince Harry’s grandmother, the Queen, upset.

In an interview with Ms Smith, Lady Elizabeth recalled: “I was shocked when the Queen told me this, how she was so saddened.”

As a trusted confidante, the Queen often shared her thoughts with Lady Elizabeth until her passing in November 2020, aged 79.

The interview with Ms Smith took place in Lady Elizabeth’s final months, shortly after the Duke and Duchess stepped down from Royal duties to start a new life in the US.

However, recent developments suggest the couple may be considering a return to the Royal family.

One indication is the inclusion of the titles HRH and the surname Sussex on passport applications for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Although this move left Royal sources perplexed last month, Richard Eden, a Royal reporter for the Daily Mail, noted: “The suggestion gives the biggest hint yet that they’re hoping to mend fences.”
