Kelly Clarkson postpones the opening night of her Las Vegas residency. Just 90 minutes before she was set to take the stage at the Coliseum at Caesar’s Palace July 4th, the singer announced she would be cancelling the show, writing on her Instagram, “We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars. Kelly, who first announced her residency back in February, continues, “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all, and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage. So, I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.” She ends the post saying, “The show was truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I would be very upset. Years ago, I took my accrued pto, booked the room, booked my flights, flew out to Vegas only for Britney to cancel her whole entire residency.
I also had my pto chosen, flights and hotel booked for Kelly’s FIRST Vegas residency years ago that also ended up getting cancelled

I went to Kelly Clarkson last break away concert when I was in high school. She was amazing.
It's sad she had to cancel this show of hers. But, she no doubt will be amazing when the show is put back on
It stings when you pay to fly,hotel and concert tickets and all you get refunds for is the concert ticket ! That happened to us when we went to see Celine Dion .But it’s a chance you take ,always buy insurance just in case !
Does this really get to this point without warning? Sorry, I don’t buy this excuse. Appropriate vocal rest periods should have been scheduled into the rehearsal period. If I was a fan and had traveled to see her, I wouldn’t be a fan anymore.

You've gotta do what you've gotta do, but I imagine the majority of those ticket holders traveled to Vegas just for that night's show. They probably get time off work, paid for travel and lodging, and then had to leave not knowing when, if ever, they could do all of that again.

Funny she wants the shows to be perfect but yet those that went to the show… bought tix, hotels, flights, planned vacations around it… They got nothing. And that's not perfect at all. How does one not realize that pushing your voice does take a toll. If rehearsals are doing this to you girl maybe it's time to just be a stay home mom. She hasn't been the same in years anyway.

If you are a big enough enough Kelly fan that you would travel to Vegas to see her opening night than you are a big enough fan to understand the importance of protecting her voice. Forcing your voice to perform when it's fatigued can not only lead to sub-par performance but it also causes permanent damage. Kelly has managed to avoid significant vocal decline despite getting older bc she takes care of her voice and knows when it needs rest. Yes, it sucks that it got canceled on such short notice. Yes, it'd be nice if they could be given something special to make up for it. But let's not forget that Kelly is a national treasure and her voice must be protected as all cost.
