They added that the estranged prince has realised that he can only fix his bond with the Firm without involving his wife as he reportedly thinks it will only add fuel to the fire.
They told RadarOnline: “He’s finally realised that the way he handled things before hasn’t brought any progress, and this marks a genuine shift in how he’s trying to move forward.”
Regarding the Duchess, they said: “Harry didn’t expect the fallout to drag on this long. He’s beginning to see that including Meghan only complicates things with the royals, so he’s accepted, though not happily, that going it alone might be the only option for now.”
Harry is reportedly keen on engaging in “one-on-one conversations, mediation, or even video calls” with his estranged relatives to open a line of communication.
The source said: “It’s incredibly hard for him. He cares deeply for Meghan, but he can’t deny the reality of the situation anymore.
“If there’s any hope of reconnecting with his family, he knows he has to try without her. And he knows he will have to make a trip back to Britain without her, with his tail between his legs and begging bowl in his hands.
The source went on to say the Duke is feeling “totally lost” in America as it’s his wife’s home and not his.
During the New York Times DealBook Online Summit last December, Harry said that he would love to stay in the US – suggesting that he has no plans to move back to the UK.
Speaking about his children and life in America, he said: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here. It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live.
“I feel as though it’s the life that my mum wanted for me. To be able to do the things I’m able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK — it’s huge. That is a fantastic opportunity and I’m hugely grateful for that.”
