came to America 91 I was ethnic and to me I was like what Why Like it was just everything about me stood out I didn’t speak the language I wasn’t blonde and blue eyes I didn’t eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches you know It was like a very weird thing where I went to school in a uniform Yeah In Russia everybody wore like I mean it was communism so everybody wore very much like a brown little thing with a you know So you show up and you’re you’re the kid in school with the uniform on and everybody’s wearing you know their their sneakers and their and jeans and I didn’t know what jeans were I mean like it’s like simple you know elements of life that you’re like “How do you not know what jeans are?” I didn’t know what jeans were you know And you at 9 years old you announced “I want to take an acting class.” Yes Which was expensive It was pricey Was it $6 $900 something like that Well I always thought it was like $250 and my parents had like $900 in the bank account And we were doing my mom and I were doing this interview and not that long ago I learned that it was $890 and we had $900 in the bank account You know most parents would have said “You know what We don’t have any money we’ve got $900 and you’re going to take up all our savings and there’s no way we’re you know what go to a community theater or something and learn how to act there There’s absolutely no rhyme or reason for what my mom did and why she did it Mind you I never got birthday presents We never got holiday gifts Like we weren’t a family of givers in that regard right So the fact that my my mom was like writing this I mean it it’s one of those kismmit moments that you can’t explain
