Olivia Munn Shares Mom’s Breast Cancer Diagnosis | E! News

Olivia Mun’s cancer diagnosis had a direct impact on her mom’s life. Over a year after the actress, who shares kids Malcolm and May with husband John Mlany shared she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, she revealed her mother, Kim Mun, discovered her own diagnosis at her urging. Olivia wrote in a July 9th Instagram post, “My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. You may know that when I talk about my own battle with cancer, I bring up the lifetime risk assessment test that saved my life. I never would have predicted it would save my mom’s life as well. Indeed, Mun further detailed in her post that her mother had a clear mammogram at her yearly screening the year she was diagnosed, but scored a 26.2 on her risk assessment quiz. The 45-year-old urged her mother to go in for an ultrasound, and she was diagnosed with stage 1 her two breast cancer. She continued, “From my mom being there after my double mistctomy to me being there after hers, from me having to find an oncologist to my mom and I sharing one. I can tell you this, going through cancer is really hard. But there’s something about watching a loved one go through it that is even more heartbreaking. And like Olivia felt her circle around her amid her battle, the newsroom alum and her mother’s husband Sam remained by her side through it all. I learned everything we could about her too. Chemotherapy, amunotherapy, cold caps. I spent many nights taking care of my mom when the chemo became too much, wishing I could fight the fight for her, even if only for a day to give her a little break. It’s no small feat to realize you can’t do it for them. To anyone out there who is taking care of someone or has made it their profession to do so, thank you. These fights can feel near impossible without you. The mom of two went on to gush over her mother’s support staff, including the guardian angel of guardian angels, Dr. Tais Aliabati, who was the doctor Olivia previously credited with saving her own life amid her cancer diagnosis. Olivia concluded her post on a happier note, explaining that her mother was doing well and included lots of glimpses into her infamously silly dynamic with John, Olivia’s comedian husband. She concluded, “I want to say how proud I am of my mom. She’s handled all of this with bravery and humor while still driving us crazy. Just days after her double mastctomy, she tried to do laundry and make dinner. She’s insane. [Music]

    2. My mother had head cancer and when that was over, 2 years later she died from Leukaemia. No one is reporting on my mother. I don’t know her from a bar of soap.
