Love Island USA star Jeremiah Brown is speaking out after fellow contestant Sierra Ortega was removed from the villa for previously using a racial slur. In a July 7th Tik Tok live shared by fans, Jeremiah said, “What do you think about Sierra leaving? I don’t condone no type of no type of racial slurs, brother. That racial stuff is weird, bro. I’ve been dealing with that my whole life, bro. Racial stuff is never cool with no kissy.” Sierra faced online backlash after old posts resurfaced from both 2015 and 2023 using an Asian slur. In her 2023 post, Sierra used the derogatory term in describing how she used Botox to open up her eyes. She has not addressed the public online yet as contestants do not have access to their phones while on the show. Her friend MJ Hedderman, who has been running her account, said she is taking a step back, writing, “I cannot speak for anybody or make any statements besides my own and decided to take a step back from running her account. I was asked by her family to turn off comments and refrain from speaking on her behalf. This situation has been really difficult and I’m still processing everything. [Music]

I think the world is going too far with this whole business. Don’t ruin someone’s life because that person used a word that you have been told is wrong. Sure it’s technically wrong but I bet if you asked an Asian person about it they’d not care one whit. I’m of German descent…don’t speak it…never have…don’t even necessarily like some German people but Germans are called blockheads or krauts all the time. I’m not offended! Why would I be? I think Huda’s behaviour has been far worse…yet she has been allowed to to stay ..and given a whole new redemption arc…not fair really..
Both ladies that left needs grace. They’re imperfect and this is a lesson for everyone, to be careful with words, use them to bless people.

I completely understand why Asians would be upset or hurt but truth be told, I had NO idea the words she used were racial slurs. Im sad to say Cierra Ortega was a prime example of being cancelled for not being educated on words that most of the world doesn’t even know is a racial slur. I think tv shows need to investigate contestants social media because at the end of the day they’re human beings and their life’s get ruined for not being educated. In my opinion, I don’t think Sierra is/was being racist. I think she missed used a word because she was ignorant & uneducated on the racial slur she used.
