After weeks of action, Wimbledon drew to a close this weekend. Prince William and Kate Middleton, accompanied by Prince George and Princess Charlotte, sat in their customary seats in the Royal Box to watch Jannik Skinner beat Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s final yesterday (July 13).

During their time at Wimbledon, William and Kate introduced Princess Charlotte and Prince George to mens double winners, Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool. The pair made history as the first British male double winners at Wimbledon for almost 90 years. But their interaction with the royals revealed a stark contrast between the future king and his little sister.

Kate, whose real feelings about the Wimbledon crowd were made clear by lip reader Jeremy Freeman, was seen speaking to the champions with her children.

According to lip-reading expert Jeremy insights, Kate inquired about the length of time the British champs had played as a team. Addressing her children, she remarked: “Wow, how about that?

“So, they only just started playing together ten months ago. And go on to win Wimbledon.” The responses from 10-year-old Charlotte and 11-year-old George could not have been much more different. Jeremy said that Charlotte, bubbling with excitement, exclaimed: “Oh, wow.”

However, he believed George commented with casual approval, reportedly stating: “Mmm nice, yeah.” Kate then expressed her admiration by noting: “Not bad is it.”, reports the Mirror.

This interaction is not entirely unexpected given Charlotte’s known affinity for tennis. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward has previously disclosed to The Sun, “Charlotte has always loved tennis, and mum Kate took her to Hurlingham when she was quite young to play tennis there.

“Tennis is a big family thing on both sides.” Just like she did for the women’s singles showdown, Kate had the honor of awarding the trophy on Centre Court yesterday (July 13). She received a warm welcome the previous day, being greeted into the royal Box with a standing ovation from the crowd.

Jeremy revealed Kate, a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, had a warm response to those in attendance. He shared Kate’s interactions with the crowd, noting her warm response: “Thanks. Hi.”

She then turned to an unseen onlooker and said, “Sweet, very nice to hear!”. Without her husband and kids at the event, she witnessed Poland’s Iga Swiatek dominate over American Amanda Anisimova in a lopsided women’s singles final.

Showing her grace afterward, Kate comforted the defeated Anisimova, saying, “You should be so proud, well done, and enjoy yourself.” Backstage, Kate offered Swiatek some advice, telling the champion: “Ensure you have some downtime.”

Kate also commended Swiatek’s performance, expressing, “Wonderful, extraordinary achievement, very well done. Congratulations and enjoy it. Enjoy the celebrations back home.”
