Stephen Colbert Announces Late Show Cancellation After 10 Years | E! News

Next year will be our last season. The network will be ending The Late Show in May. And a brave face on Steven Colbear one day after learning The Late Show was on its final run with the late night franchise effectively cancelled at CBS. I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away. I do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners. I’m so grateful to the Tiffany network for giving me this chair and this beautiful theater to call home. In a statement on July 17th, Paramount calling this purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show’s performance or other matters happening at Paramount. And I am extraordinarily deeply grateful to the 200 people who work here. We get to do this show. We get to do this show for each other every day, all day. And I’ve had the pleasure and the responsibility of sharing what we do every day with you in front of this camera for the last 10 years. And let me tell you, it is a fantastic job. I wish somebody else was getting it. Steven stepping into the role following David Letterman’s exit in 2015. A decade later, the 61-year-old promising fans they’ll make the most of their remaining 10 months on the air before entering the Ed Sullivan Theater in May for the Late Show’s Last Laugh. ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ has been canceled on CBS after a 10-year run. The comedian shared the shocking announcement with his audience on July 17, with Colbert revealing he was told of Paramount’s decision the previous night. In a statement, the company called the cancellation “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.”
